NEW: Predictive WIDA correlation, customizable conversations, and older newcomer updates

 

We’re always working to make Joy School English even more effective and engaging. Here’s what’s new:


  • SPARC Speaking Proficiency Score – improved tracking, predictive of WIDA ACCESS outcomes
  • Improved Kady Chain Conversation Experience – now with customizable prompts, time limits, and saved conversations
  • New Activities – Undercover Story, Speaker Speeder, and Value Animations
  • Older Newcomer Updates – more books plus a placement test for a more personalized learning path

SPARC speaking proficiency score

The SPARC Score is better than ever! Our proprietary speaking proficiency metric now tracks oral language growth at the school, class, and student level. Even more exciting, a recent independent study found that the SPARC Score is a reliable predictor of outcomes on English Language Proficiency assessments like WIDA ACCESS. The study also showed that students using Joy School English at recommended levels saw an average 55% improvement on their WIDA ACCESS scores.

Improved Kady Chain Conversation Experience

Practice conversations feel more real than ever. With the updated Kady Chain Conversation Experience, teachers can customize prompts, set chat time limits, and review saved conversations. These authentic, AI-driven conversations give students a safe space to practice speaking and the confidence to speak up in any situation.

New Activities

Check out these fun new activities!:


  • Undercover Story – students follow a simple sequence of pictures, listen to the story, and retell it in their own words
  • Speaker Speeder – a fast-paced challenge where students listen to and practice conversation phrases
  • Value Animations – new interactive scenarios that reinforce character-building values as kids see the results of their choices

Older Newcomer Updates

The Older Newcomer course (perfect for upper elementary students new to English) just got even better. We’ve added more age-appropriate fiction and nonfiction books to keep students engaged, plus a new placement test designed specifically for older newcomers to help them get started in just the right spot.
