Joy School English Demo

Students learn new phrases as modeled by real kids and adults in authentic situations presented in videos. They are invited to speak, then their voices are recorded and played back to them. Speech recognition technology  analyzes what they said and provides customized feedback.

Allowing students to use their voices to make something happen is a powerful language learning strategy. In this activity, students practice newly-learned commands by telling Dotty, the Joy School English ladybug, what to do. Try giving commands like "brush your teeth," "brush your hair," and "turn off the light."

 Daisy Chain is an interactive speaking tool that places students in real-world conversations! Kids gain conversational confidence by chatting with Miss Daisy or one of her friends from a choice of topics in real-life settings. Students feel like they are in an authentic conversation with a real person.  

Kady Chain is an AI-driven conversation experience that encourages students to practice speaking. Kids have authentic, open-ended conversations in a safe environment with animated characters like Kady on any topic they choose. The AI characters help keep the conversation on-topic and kid-appropriate. 

Graphic novels are used as a high-leverage instructional tool for English Learners, addressing both the cognitive and linguistic challenges of acquiring a second language. By integrating visual and textual information, they provide a unique "on-ramp" to complex literacy skills.

Pathways conversations help students master complex language and age-appropriate texts to achieve grade-level reading proficiency. In this activity, interactive discussions allow students to demonstrate their comprehension while gaining the confidence to express their own perspectives.

 Students practice academic elaboration and discourse moves by comparing and contrasting fiction and non-fiction texts. By exploring two different works linked by a common theme, students learn to organize complex thoughts, provide examples, and justify their reasoning.

Sentence Smithy is a foundational writing activity where students construct complex sentences using conjunctions. Students begin practicing using a single conjunction, then progress to where they independently create complex sentences from multiple conjunctions and stems.
