Welcome to Joy School English, a vibrant digital program that teaches English and character-building values through songs, videos, books, and interactive games. This guide will show you how easy it is to set up the Joy School English app on a personal device to use at home and get your child speaking English right away!
After signing up for Joy School English you will receive an email with a link with your account details. Click the Click Here to Log In button in the email.
Set a password that will be used for your parent account. After you set your password, don’t return to the login at this point—you’ll come back to that after you’ve downloaded and set up the student app.
Download the Joy School English app from your mobile device’s app store.
NOTE: Due to the large amount of content and high-quality media (video, animation, songs, etc.), the app may take more time to download and use more space on your device than you might be used to with other apps.
View the system requirements to see if your device is compatible with the Joy School English app.
Visit the Apple App Store to download the Joy School English app to your Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
Open the app and select Global as the region, then tap the check mark.
Select Home as the login type.
Enter the email address you used to sign up, then enter your parent account password and tap Enter.
Tap your child's name.
(First-time login only) A math problem is required to move on. This is to ensure that a parent or teacher is present to assist the child with creating their own password, and that the child is entering the correct account (in cases where more than one child in a household is using Joy School English).
You will then see a screen that says “Create Your Password.” Help your child choose a shape, color, and object as their password.
After choosing all three, help your child drag the password icon to the door, which will open, introducing you to the world of Joy School English! We recommend writing down your child’s password (shape + color + object) for future reference and practicing this several times so the child remembers their password.
At any time parents can have their child Pause the activity (upper right-hand corner). From here they can tap the Home icon to log out.
NOTE: Joy School English will stay logged in unless you manually log out, or the app (or device) is shut down or turned off.
We recommend using Joy School English 10-15 minutes a day. The default setting is five activities a day, but you can change that in the Joy school English portal. After your child has completed their daily usage, they will see a Good Job! screen congratulating them for their work. They can return to their normal learning path tomorrow, or they are free to review by tapping the Review Menu button. The Review Menu is also a great opportunity for the child to demonstrate their new skills to the parent. Although students are free to review games without any limit, we strongly encourage parents to carefully consider electronic device usage. We believe a healthy relationship with electronic devices is very important.
You can view your child’s progress in the Joy School English portal. In your internet browser, go to https://portal.joyschoolenglish.com and log in with your email address and parent account password. We recommend bookmarking this website for future reference.
In the portal you will see your email address, which represents the name of your class, and your name as the teacher. Click on the class name (your email address) below the gray horizontal line to see members of your class.
From here, click the View Report button. In this section, you will see the most commonly missed skills from the students in your class, the current unit each student is working on, and how much time they have spent in the Joy School English course.
In the Joy School English portal you can also view more detailed data about your child’s progress. Select your class, then a student. The blue circles are completed units, and the black circle is the unit the student is currently working on. To see data for a completed unit, click a blue circle and below you will see what letters, words, and conversational phrases your student learned in this unit, as well as books, songs, and more.
